With a natural alertness for beauty in nature, enriched by his experience as an pastel painter and photographer, “penetrates” Luk Luts the diverse stones.
The stones range from Sandstone, through Diestian iron sandstone, French stone into Belgian and Irish bluestone, the beautiful, but delicate Noir de Mazy stones, onto the unique Italian marble Bianco Statuario and the colorful Zimbabian stone: Opal and Springstone.
To free the fossilized message or “impression” of the stone mass from their century old shell, is his obsession.
Luk Luts is the man who became next to being a teacher also a stone whisperer. Not only because he has a natural feel for the stone but also because he shows us in his personal style what he sees in a stone. Anyone who starts to grow a feeling for his sculptures will recognize them always.
